Buddha shaped Pears

Gao Xianzhang has managed to create what some would call the holiest fruits ever, pears shaped like Buddha.

Gao has been working on his pear-growing technique for six years and this season he managed to grow 10,000 Buddha-shaped baby pears. Each fruit is grown in an intricate Buddha mould and ends up looking like a juicy figurine. The ingenious farmer says the locals in his home village of Hexia, norther China, have been buying his Buddha pears as soon as he picks them from the trees. Most of them think they are cute and that they bring good luck.

Gao Xianzhang pears aren’t cheap, roughly $1.8 each, but their success in China convinced him to start exporting them into Europe.

It's not genetically engineered. It's shape is altered physically by placing it in the suitable shaped container

Its not genetic engineering or biotechnology, its simple moulded fruit, during the budding stage the mould might have been fixed to the bud, the fruit takes the shape of the mould, see picture 2 for the same

I think its really a nice way of showing devotion to God in a natural way. Anyways this approach could be adopted by Fruit selling compnies to make there product presentable. Good job done....!!!

All, I don't think the farmer or the fruit seller intended to sell this fruit to eat but rather to show their technology and skill that the farmer can change the shape of things. It is about lives on earth are not meant to be only one form, or that life forms on earth can be different ways of looking, or appearing. That is Buddha's religious philosogy. Do you remember doctors in French or in the USA to performed a deformed face of a woman? She became a totally different person after the face surgery. Plus this fruit costs $8.00 each, and it is placed in a glass jug to preserve it from quick rotten.
